Sándor Diskai

Sándor Diskai [Diskay] was born Sándor Klein in Tapolca, Hungary on 23 August 1883. In 1906, aged 23, he changed his surname to Diskai. He owned the Mona Lisa art, photography and painting company and also worked as a photographer for Hungarian and foreign magazines, such as Theatre Life. He was known for his use of new, pioneering photography techniques in the early 1900s. In 1947 he was commissioned to take photographs of the ORT school in Budapest, as well as an exhibition of students’ work [see images].

Diskai passed away in Budapest on 8 February 1953.
