ORT has worked with Jewish communities in Asia since 1941, when it assisted Jewish refugees in Shanghai. Work in this region included the new State of Israel in 1948, Iran between 1950 and 1980 and India since 1960. In Oceania, fundraising activities have been set up in Australia. In addition to this work, since 1960 ORT’s International Cooperation programmes have helped non-Jewish communities throughout these regions improve their lives.
