Western Europe

Although the term Western Europe is commonly used, there is no consensus on which countries comprise it. We have used a broad definition, based on the popular perception and understanding of Western Bloc countries and their borders with the Eastern Bloc during the Cold War. Geographically, this includes countries in western, northern and southern Europe. ORT began fundraising in Western Europe in 1919 and the World ORT Union was founded in Berlin in 1921. Click on each country for the story of ORT's activities there.
