ORT Archive documents relating to Austria.
ORT provided vocational courses to Holocaust survivors in Austria between 1946 and the early 1950s. It continued its work in the country, helping refugees from Soviet block countries until 1969. Between January 1946 and December 1969, 20,530 adults were admitted to ORT’s courses and 12,521 completed the full study cycle, passed their final examinations and obtained diplomas. The ORT online archive holds three documents relating to the early activities in the DP camps. More information on ORT's programme in Austria can be found in the 1946-1972 reports submitted to World ORT's governing bodies and in the World ORT Report (formerly the ORT Yearbook). These can be found under World ORT. Our photo galleries also include more from ORT Austria and a brief history of ORT's activities in the country is available here.
