Photos from ORT International Cooperation (IC) programmes in Asia & the Pacific

ORT expanded its IC activities into Asia during the 1970s. Multi-sectoral projects were mounted throughout the region. Community development programmes were expanded to include training centres.

Traditional programmes in the fields of vocational education and skills training were developed to local specifications. In response to the 2004 tsunami, ORT designed and delivered educational, training and livelihood in several locations.

ORT IC programmes over the years were run in the following Asian countries: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, India, Indonesia, Iran, Israel, Korea, Myanmar (formerly Burma), Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Samoa (formerly Western Samoa), Sri Lanka, Tonga, Turkey and Vietnam.
